Recently in June, I visited teamlab.planets and met with the Japanese digital art collective teamlab’s founder in their new which features over 13,000 real, live orchids. We spoke about the greater meaning behind the immersive, kinetic or projection-mapped artworks, and his thoughts on VR and NFT’s. But most importantly, on his democratic approach to experiential art, and his collective’s virtue of creating artworks that “alter your perception, and change human’s sense of values.” It’s extraordinary that teamlab this year celebrate their 20th anniversary since starting in 2001. Amazing, right. From humble beginnings, it’s monumental that Inoko-san and his team of “ultra-technologists” have created such meaningful and transformative experiences through art for the wider public.
