My passion for travel bloomed after my parents took me on my first trip to the motherland, China. I was 5 and, when we landed, I thought we ended up in another universe! Almost everything, from architecture to culture, was different compared to the United States. To be honest, I experienced culture shock; my uncle's bathroom freaked me out at the time because the toilet, sink and shower were all in ONE area (I was used to the shower being separate from the sink and toilet). It blew my five-year-old mind. Once I overcame the shock and found things to love about China (like the food!!! ), I wondered, "What else is out there?"
